Assignment #2: “The Mobile Store Site Design”
This project will test your ability to organize large amounts of information, add detail, have it easily scanned and navigated while still remain pleasing to the eye.
Create a new look for The Mobile Store web site – an online as well as brick and mortar mobile phone store.
About the Client:
The Mobile Store phone company offers mobile phones accessories and service plans across Canada.
The client wishes to portray a professional company that offers the latest in mobile phone technology and service plans.
They ask the site have a clean look that offers intuitive navigation and a showcase for their numerous products and plans.
The Mobile Store relies on sales from both their online store and their brick and mortar outlets (3).
The Mobile Store offers a full line of mobile phones from 4 of the worlds leading cell phone manufactures ( Motorola, Samsung, Siemens, Sony Ericsson) as well as service plans to fit anyone’s budget .
Pages consist of (2 total)
Home (index - Example content - Company introduction, sale items, hot phones, service plans, accessories, advertising etc),
Phones (a page showing a selection of different phones from the 4 companies (these would be linked to pages with all the available phones) . Here you can also add carrier information, accessories etc) 16 Phone images minimum
Please create elastic / hybrid layout.
These pages will be constructed using CSS DIVS. NO TABLES should be present in your website (that includes the banner and navigation).
"Expandable" (Css Layout- adding or removing content should not effect the rest of the page)
Lorem CANNOT be used for filler text . Create the copy by researching - the afore mentioned cell phone companies - and compiling "copy" that make sense to the page/phone/plan etc.
Include "best practices" for search engine ranking (page title, meta tags, choice of tags, _h tags, bold, placement and repetition of keywords etc)
Navigation – Must have the link titles: Home, Phones, Plans, Accessories, Store, Contacts (Navigation must be contained in an unordered list - horizontal or vertical menus with rollovers)
Phone images must be linked to a larger version which pops up when clicked
Images for the phones may be taken from the manufactures web sites or other online phone stores - other images must be stock photography
Main Advertising on the pages must be original - Secondary ads (company logos etc ) can be taken from the web.
Banner – must contain the title of the company (The Mobile Store) and strong imagery to set the tone of the site.
Details such as icons, add to cart links etc will increase your mark
You will be marked on your ability to adhere to instructions (as per the above), on your design, and finally on your technical skills.. Good design is as important as the technical requirements

Create a png grid layout to hasten site page development
Don't miss basic practices like correct naming conventions, title, text links at the bottom of page etc
