To
create a digital interactive portfolio to
display your best work. This portfolio
will be a vehicle in which you can reach out to potential employers
Due
Date: week 6
Objective
To create a digital interactive portfolio to display your best work. This portfolio
will be a vehicle in which you can reach out to potential employers
The Process
Brainstorming/semi-comp/ Thumbnails
When we create this portfolio we will be laying it out just like a multiple
page document in InDesign. To help you with this I would like you to create
thumbnails for the layout
(MAKE SURE ITS PROPORTIONATLY
TO THE ACTUAL LAYOUT SIZE) as well as thumbnails for the jewel case and the
cd label as well.
You have to come up with some type of style for your layout. A style that will
compliment your work as well as make it easy for a potential employer to navigate
to get to the information they need. The Final file needs to be emailed so
the process in which we create our file will be crutial.
Files to be included into your design:
> your work (many different formats ie, digital work, Photography, Paintings
etc.)
These need to be flattened before placing in our documents
> some type of navigation system (created by you)
> hyperlinks
> bookmarks
> Rollovers
Know files limitations
Include software links, instructions, help files etc. so
the user of your pdf has all the info needed to navigate
your PDF.
Gathering your files
This is where you want to choose the work you want displayed.
You only want to display your best work. You also want to display
a wide range of different types of work (ie. layout, illustration,
etc.)
Also we will be incorporating quicktime video, so think about how you will
use this to enhance your portfolio. (write small scripts) (ie teachers interviews)
Start Creating
Once you have your ideas on paper and you have decided the files you want
to use its time to put it all together. Think of it as a magazine almost
but you have the ability to allow the viewer to control where they go and
what they see.
We will be creating the layout in InDesign then converting it into PDF format.
Testing, Testing, Testing...
Test your pdf extensively on both pc & mac machines. Get other students
to navigate your pdf and see where some problems could arise.
